Gable Roof Rake Board

It is a term that describes the slanted sides of a gable end.

Use larger rake boards such as 1 by 4 inch and 1 by 6 inch when there isn t an eave overhang on the gable end. On a gable roof the rake board or fascia is the slanting edge at the end wall of the house.

One by 2 inch rake boards often cover the exposed top edge of the siding when there also is an eave overhang on the gable end. Just like an eave the rake board makes your roof look complete by finishing the exterior design but it goes up and down a slope instead of a horizontal path. People also call it a raking cornice or sloping cornice. The drip edge is also installed along with the rake.

Even though this job is relatively simple it requires two professionals to install one to stand on the ladder and install them the other to hand up the cut pieces.
