Getting wax off vinyl. Diluted household ammonia works great for removing wax buildup as well as dirt and grime on vinyl or linoleum floors. Mix from 1 2 to 2 cups of ammonia to one gallon of warm water. Applying more wax only makes the problem worse. Place the bag of ice over the wax for at least five minutes and then remove the bag and pick at the wax with your fingers. The original wax must be removed first.

If the wax is somewhat soft to the touch place a few ice cubes in a zippered sandwich bag and seal the bag.
