To achieve that longevity the adhesive must have a firm bond with the substrate. Any strong carpenter s wood glue works for gluing vinyl to wood. Carpenter s glue is available for indoor and outdoor use so choose the one that corresponds with where the finished project will go. Spread glue on both the vinyl and the wood and press the two together.
